If you have a team, there’s one thing that all teams have in common. They want to be valued, so as a leader, we need to know how to show our team they’re valued right now and understand why they want to be valued. I’m going to share with you three things. Three reasons why our team want to be valued.
Number 1, We all want to feel like we belong.
As human beings, we actually feel that we belong to something bigger than ourselves, and we want to feel that we belong and are accepted. Everyone who is part of your team is part of your team because they want to have that feeling in some way other than their own little space of the world. We all want to feel that feeling, and this is how as leaders we help this for our team.
Number 2, when I feel valued, it increases my loyalty and my output.
What does that mean for you as a leader? If your team feel valued, it means they are more loyal to your organization, they are more loyal to the brand, and this increases their output, so two great things. If I’m more loyal to the brand, it means I have more conversations about the brand. I tell more people. I don’t only tell more people about why the brand is great but I tell them about why they should come and experience it, why they should come and work there. This is also increases my output because I believe in your organization because you first believed in me as a team member. So really great that our team feel valued because we can understand the impact that actually has on to our business.
Number 3, What we enjoy we do more of….
If I’m actually enjoying being part of your team, it actually makes me want to do more things in your team. It makes me want to not only be there more but it also makes me want to step up and maybe take a bit more responsibility or try new things in your business. If we have our team feeling valued, what that actually translates to is they enjoy being part of the team. If I enjoy being part of the team, I want to be there more often. I want to be more committed, which, of course, leads back to number two about loyalty.
Three big reasons why your team want to be valued right now. They don’t want to be valued after they’ve achieved success. As soon as someone is part of your team, they want to know that you value them being there. You value them even though you’re paying them that you value that human being, being part of your team.
