Making decisions for someone else can be stressful especially of that someone is your boss. So how do I get my team to not only make decisions but love them?
Practice, ownership and praise!
Like any skill the more you practice the better you get and so do your team, they need practice making the right decision for your business on a consistent basis. For you this needs to be a daily routine of planning decisions that can be made by your team and this also helps you see the true potential of your team.
Once this becomes part of your daily routine this builds trust with your team and an off shoot of this is creating ownership. Ownership comes quite naturally once decisions are being made as your team start to own these decisions and the actions they take and is will also improve their self esteem when they are given the praise they deserve.
Praise is the last piece of the puzzle. Every time your team make a decision their intent is to help your business and its customers and even if it doesn’t work out praise is required . The issue most leaders have is they only look at the outcome not the intent or even effort from the individual.
