10 Habits all Good Leaders Should Have
1 – A Great Morning Routine – the way you start your day sets up the day.
2 – Time Out – day to day leadership is a busy place to be so all leaders need to make sure they plan time out to recharge.
3 – Consistent Sleep Patterns – Sleep is like charging your phone, not enough charge and the battery runs out too early.
4 – Exercise – Taking care of your body is as vital as your sleep but it doesn’t have to take big chunks of time start with 10 mins. 10 mins everyday can make a difference to your health. And there are so many apps out there for short workouts, like 7 mins.
5 – Planning – To achieve the best outcomes for your people and the business planning is essential. Make time time to check in with the team not just for tasks.
6 – Delegating – We have all made the mistake of thinking we can do it all ourselves, but I am here to tell you you can’t. The best skill you can learn as a leader is how to delegate to not only ease your workload but done well it builds your team at the same time.
7 – Having Scheduled Email / Computer Time – Being connected constantly isn’t productive so schedule time to check emails into your day and only check at that time frame. This helps you stay focussed on what you are working on right now without interruptions.
8 – Making Time for Your People – No leader is great without their people so investing and getting to know what makes your people tick is so important to creating a great team.
9 – Regular Feedback – No matter what role you are in regular feedback from your team, peers and leaders is essential to growing and evolving as a leader. Don’t wait for the yearly review schedule to ask 1 person for feedback every week. Make getting feedback a habit.
10 – Fun! – Life is not meant to be so serious, make time for fun and a laugh. Making a habit of fun makes for a great team dynamic and happy people all round.
